Angry Trump supporters attacked Republican Florida Gov. Rick Scott for acknowledging that nearly 3,000 people died in Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
Trump falsely claimed that the nearly 3,000 people “did not die” and baselessly alleged that the Democrats made up the number to make him “look bad.”
Scott, who is running for Senate, tweeted that he “disagrees” with Trump, as though the official death toll is up for debate.
“An independent study said thousands were lost and Gov. Rosselló agreed,” Scott tweeted. “I’ve been to Puerto Rico 7 times & saw devastation firsthand. The loss of any life is tragic; the extent of lives lost as a result of Maria is heart wrenching. I’ll continue to help PR.”
I disagree with @POTUS– an independent study said thousands were lost and Gov. Rosselló agreed. I've been to Puerto Rico 7 times & saw devastation firsthand. The loss of any life is tragic; the extent of lives lost as a result of Maria is heart wrenching. I'll continue to help PR

Scott, a lifelong Republican, was immediately attacked by Trump supporters for daring to question their dear leader.
Your making a mistake by falling for liberal trap, It took 1yr to find out how died.
Americans are not stupid the argument lacks common sense, the Gov. of PR should shoulder the blame. Libs Dem using death of Puerto Rico souls for votes in #FL that’s cold & sick

I see you have all the socialist bots commenting to this post
The deaths in PR occurred much later after the storm when supplies were hoarded instead of being distributed. Beside PR leaders care nothing about the people just their own pockets – just like dems in US

You have disappointed me with your critical comments about our great President! I have changed my mind about you and will NOT vote for you to be Senator in Florida!

Right. Mayors stealing relief supplies, truck drivers refusing to report for work at the port, half-assed construction standards, widespread corruption and a manana culture had nothing to do with it.https://t.co/zbdZ9ZWuE0https://t.co/OgdJqFkoGthttps://t.co/39c3AM21rS

Stated like a politician running for a Senate seat. Trying to degrade @POTUS, who is under constant attack for EVERYTHING, doesn’t need someone he has helped tremendously trying to stick it to him. Not a good look on you @ScottforFlorida!

Ok, but why do the ungrateful wretches expect that federal tax money should rebuild the whole island? FEMA money is for EMERGENCY relief, to save lives. Puerto Rico has to take it from there.
