A signboard at one of the Minnesota locations of Arby’s restaurant featured the N-word and a derogatory term for a prostitute and that prompted the company to apologize and the police to investigate the incident, WCCO reports.
The Brooklyn Center Arby’s sign was rearranged Friday night to read “Now Hiring N**gers and W**res,” shocking those passing by the fast-food joint Saturday morning.
Police officers spotted the sign at about 7 a.m. and took it down. The department said the sign is low enough to the ground that just about anyone can rearrange the letters.
A spokesman for the restaurant chain confirmed that the location’s signboard had been compromised.
“Someone put up a message that was extremely offensive,” the company said on its Twitter account. “The message has since been taken down. We’re cooperating with local law enforcement officials and will take appropriate action against those involved. We apologize to everyone exposed to that message.”
