President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court reveal was seen by 7 million fewer viewers than his first despite the fact that he hyped it like a season finale on “The Apprentice” for weeks.
Despite rumors that Trump picked 9 pm in primetime to boost his ratings, AdWeek reports that just 26 million people tuned in to see him pick Judge Brett Kavanaugh – compared to the 33 million who tuned in to see him tab Neil Gorsuch last year.
The news is all the more ironic given numerous reports that his new communications chief Bill Shine, the former Fox News head, upped the production values for the event and timed it for big ratings.
Bill Shine's production of the Kavanaugh announcement was timed to boost Sean Hannity’s show, a source close to Hannity tells Vanity Fair.
"Everyone at the White House knew this was about Sean’s ratings." https://t.co/lAEa09ilNV
