White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders claimed a right-wing poll showing that President Trump is “better than” President Obama to claim that he is more credible than former FBI Director James Comey.
In an interview with ABC News, host George Stephanopoulos pointed out that Trump and the White House’s credibility is at rockbottom.
“Are you sure you want to be engaged in a credibility contest with James Comey?” Stephanopoulos asked. “I think the [Washington Post] cited more than 2,000 instances where the president and the White House have made false statements. Our new poll shows that Americans, by a pretty wide margin, think James Comey has more credibility than Donald Trump.”
Sanders claimed that a right-wing Rasmussen poll that has Trump far higher than the other polls is proof that Trump is more credible.
“I have to disagree,” she said. “There’s a daily poll that has the president at 50%. Better than President Obama at this point. At the end of the day, this president will be judged on probably two big things. The economy and national security.”
