Voters are set to cast their ballots in the contentious PA-18 Special Election today and Trump’s pick Rick Saccone thinks he can win against moderate Democrat Conor Lamb.
The GOPer is also not about to let something Hillary Clinton said get in his way.
“Why would anyone care what Hillary Clinton says at this point?” Saccone said on Fox News. “I don’t even know why they would interview her.”
He added: “I mean, it’s just such nonsense…What could be said beyond that?”
Saccone was referring to comments Clinton made in India suggesting that Trump voters “didn’t like black people getting rights.”
She also portrayed her voters as forward-thinking as opposed to those who picked Trump.
“I won the places that are optimistic, diverse, dynamic, moving forward, and his whole campaign, ‘Make America Great Again,’ was looking backwards,” she continued on.
Saccone has aligned himself closely with Trump during the election and Trump has heartily endorsed him, despite talk he trashes him in private.
Clinton’s comments, then, likely did not go over well in Saccone’s circles or in PA-18, which voted heavily for Trump in 2016.
Saccone is hoping his Trump ties will help him carry the day.
