The Republican party is embracing Roy Moore in a big way.
On Tuesday, the Associated Press reported that the RNC sent two contributions totally $170,000 to Moore.
As per the AP:
The Republican National Committee has transferred $170,000 to the Alabama Republican Party to bolster embattled Senate candidate Roy Moore.
An RNC official tells The Associated Press it made two transfers to the state party Tuesday: one for $50,000 and another for $120,000.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the official was not authorized to discuss the transfers by name.
As Think Progress also noted, the decision violates the RNC’s own party platform that reads: “We encourage states to continue to fight this public menace and pledge our commitment to children’s safety and well-being. We applaud the social networking sites that bar sex offenders from participation.”
Moore is facing off against Democrat Doug Jones in the special election on Dec. 12. According to Trump, the support of Moore is justified because Alabama cannot allow a “liberal Democrat” in the Senate seat.
