In Utah, Jake Don Jensen, 29, was charged for the murder of his girlfriend’s disabled 19-month-old daughter in 2016, Inside Edition reports.
In January 2016, emergency responders responded to a call that the toddler, Sophia was having seizure, according to the Deseret News.
Sophia’s seizure stopped, and her mother and Jensen declined to have her taken to a hospital, saying they would soon. They reportedly did not, and two days later she had another seizure. She was brought to a hospital and “never regained consciousness.”
She died on Jan. 5, 2016. Doctors found her legs broken, which hadn’t been reported. The child had cerebral palsy, but also had injuries on her head and eye.
Doctors who examined her told police her injuries were consistent with ongoing abuse.
Sophia’s mother and Jensen got married in March 2017 and recently had a baby daughter together.
