A pair of hapless thieves robbed the takeout area of a Maryland pub at gunpoint.
They did not realize, however, that sitting in the next room was a group of off-duty cops.
It all happened at Monaghan’s Pub in Woodlawn in Baltimore County on Tuesday.
The robbers entered the takeout portion of the pub and made off with some cash at gunpoint.
“At that time, the person who had been behind the counter knew that there was a retirement party for a police officer happening, so they went into the other portion and alerted the officers to the fact that they had just been involved in an armed robbery,” Baltimore County Police Officer Jennifer Peach explained.
Joseph McInnis III, 21, and 22-year-old Tyree McCoy were quickly arrested for the robbery.
As Peach noted, “I’m sure that they weren’t planning on there being a large room filled with police officers.”
The pub also just so happens to be across the street from a police station, according to Fox 29.
