The emails Donald Trump Jr. released showing an apparent willingness to collude with the Russian government seem to align with parts of the infamous Trump Dossier complied by former MI-6 Agent Christopher Steele during the campaign.
A report from Business Insider compares the emails, from the early part of June, with entries made in the opening of the dossier that the Russians had their own dossier on Clinton and were feeding the Trump organization damaging info on Clinton through intermediaries.
However, the below passage from the dossier is even more interesting in light of the Trump Jr. emails.
The raw intelligence report–meaning no one attempted to corroborate or verify it when it was written–states that some weeks after the meeting took place in Trump Tower their relationship was firmly in place.
It alleges there “was a well-developed conspiracy of co-operation between them and the Russian leadership” being led by Paul Manafort, using Carter Page “and others” as intermediaries.
This also ties the “feeding” of information to Trump associates to the leak of DNC emails through Wikileaks, which came almost immediately after the Trump camp argued to weaken the language about Ukraine in the GOP Party platform.
Aras Agalarov, the father of the Russian pop star who brokered the meeting was also mentioned in the dossier as the figure who would know best “what the Republican presidential candidate had got up to” while visiting Russia.
