Fox News legal expert Andrew Napolitano defected from his network’s pro-Trump propaganda on Monday when he called for an investigation into the Donald Trump Jr. meeting at Trump Tower to obtain Hillary dirt.
“If I could have advised the president or Donald Trump Jr., I would have said, ‘Go to Don McGahn [Trump’s lawyer],’” Napolitano said on the air. “He would have said, ‘You want to talk to an ex-KGB-GRU agent and a person represented as a Russian government lawyer — even though we now know she wasn’t — tell the FBI, don’t bring those guys in here.’”
He then said this: “It is a crime to receive something of value when you are a campaign official from a foreign person or foreign government.”
Fox News has been working hard to plead Trump Jr’s innocence since the scandal broke, giving Trump Jr. air time on Hannity to claim he did nothing wrong and insisting that Trump Jr’s actions were just politics.
President Trump has also taken to Twitter to defend his son using much the same arguments, today tweeting out that Trump Jr.’s actions were just what “most politicians” would have done.
Napolitano has previously jumped on the Trump train, even defending Trump’s wiretapping claims, making his calls for an investigation on Monday all the more surprising.
