Trump admitted he didn’t score the largest electoral victory since Reagan, Mediaite reports.
Trump was at a press conference announcing former US attorney Alexander Acosta as his new nominee for Labor Secretary after Andre Puzder dropped out yesterday.
While Trump took questions, NBC’s Peter Alexander said: “You said today you have the biggest electoral margin since Ronald Reagan.”
Alexander then pointed out the Obama and George H.W. Bush received more electoral votes than Trump did, before asking: “So why should Americans trust you when you accuse the information they’ve received as being fake?”
Trump quickly said he was given that information (that he did the best since Reagan), almost apologetically, then said he’d seen that information around (presumably that he hadn’t).
Trump then asked if Alexander agreed that he’d had a “very substantial victory.”
Alexander replied, “you’re the president.”
