I try to not be paranoid much, enjoying a good conspiracy theory video on Hulu once in awhile, but otherwise not getting too deep into that stuff. But sometimes a coincidence just pops up that seems a little too… coincidental?
No question that Louisiana has been a mess lately, with cops shooting random innocent African-Americans and random African-Americans shooting innocent cops. The only solution proposed so far seems to be to hope everyone will somehow just stop, while pretending this has more to do with generic gun crazy nuts than seething racial tensions generations in the making.
So layered on to that background, paratroopers of the crack 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, somehow were ordered this week to conduct a no-notice (which in the Army means a 96-hour warning order) Emergency Deployment Readiness Exercise.
Some 700 armed troops were inserted by parachute into a military facility in Louisiana. The troops are part of a Global Response Force that specifically trains to deploy on short/no-notice. The great thing about parachute troops is that it doesn’t matter who controls roads or airports, they are going to show up anyway.
Oh yeah, the training scenario.
An Army spokesperson said a fictional country was under attack, and the government had lost control of its capital. Its leader asked the United States for help and the U.S. responded by dropping in forces to restore order.
Have a nice weekend.
