…And the original owner of the freezer is charged with murdering her own mother and stashing the body in the freezer!
The woman who purchased the freezer said the seller told her the items inside the freezer were for a Sunday school project and that the church would come pick them up. Three weeks after the purchase, no one had come for the items, so the woman opened the freezer and discovered the human.
“I was just in shock,” she said. “I opened it up for a second time, and my heart went into my throat. I ran out of the house and called 911.”
(NOTE TO SELF: Clean any dead bodies out of things I’m getting rid of at the yard sale, look inside things I buy at yard sales for dead bodies. Good rules to live by. The woman got the otherwise-working freezer for only $30.)
Unpacking the story (get it?) Goldsboro, North Carolina police on Friday identified the 75-year-old woman found dead in the freezer and charged her daughter with a felony for failing to report her death. The freezer and the body were sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy on the body listed cause of death as “unknown,” but there were no apparent signs of foul play.
Unfortunately for the purposes of this article, the body was fully intact and not dismembered in any way.
The deceased, who authorities say lived with her daughter, was last seen alive in August 2015. The daughter is on the run and was last seen in West Virginia.
Tip to the cops looking for the perp: check the frozen food section of every supermarket in town.
