Fox 5 San Diego used a picture of President Barack Obama to depict a rape suspect in a story on Friday.
As seen in the video, the anchor, Kathleen Bade, began to discuss the story, while a picture of the president was posted as the suspect.
“The only suspect in a sex assault at SDSU will not be charged,” she said.
Mike Willie, an assignment editor, noted that it was an accident and that it was corrected within five seconds.
“Yeah, there was an accident when they had an over-the-shoulder” said Willie to the Times of San Diego. “It wasn’t on purpose.”
Willie explained that a news station doesn’t apologize for minor errors.
“They really don’t do that when it’s a small thing like that,” he said.
He said the news station didn’t receive any calls complaining about the graphical error.
