The popularity of shows like TLC’s ‘Toddlers and Tiaras’ has exposed just how crazy pageant moms can be. Yet, even the antics of the wiglet-wielding stage moms profiled on the show pale in comparison to the actions of this Florida mom.
According to nurse Maricar Cabral-Osorio, who recounted her tale for an upcoming Discovery show, one unnamed pageant mom who came into her ER was so crazy that she fed tapeworms to her daughter to make her skinnier.
Cabral-Osorio said that a teenage girl came into the emergency department complaining of stomach pains, leading nurses to suspect she might be pregnant.
Then they learned it was something else.
“Something was in her intestines,” Cabral-Osorio said while filming “Untold Stories of the E.R.”
It was not until the girl went to the bathroom, though, did they figure out exactly what the ‘something’ was.
“It was a toilet bowl full of tapeworms!” the nurse said. “It was so gross and she had pooped all these tapeworms. There were a couple that were very long and wiggling around trying to get out of the toilet bowl.”
She added that the medical staff could not figure out how the girl could have possibly have gotten a tapeworm infestation in her gut.”We were wondering, how did she get those tapeworms? And then we saw the mother turn white.”
Turns out, the mother had put tapeworm eggs in her child’s food so that she would lose a few extra pounds.
The nurse said the next thing she heard was the mom apologizing to her daughter for spiking her food with parasites to make her pageant-ready.
“The mom was apologizing to the girl. ‘I just did it to make you a little skinner. You needed some help before we went on to the pageant,'” recalled ER nurse Cabral-Osorio.
