A German reporter asked President Donald Trump about his attacks on the media at his joint press conference with Chancellor Angela Merkel, and POTUS accused her of reading “fake news.”
“Why are you so scared of diversity in the news and in the media that you speak so often of fake news and things that cannot be proven, for example that you have been wiretapped by Mr. Obama?” the reporter asked Trump, according to the translation.
The reporter also asked Merkel about Trump’s “isolationist” views.
“Nice, friendly reporter,” Trump joked. “First, I don’t believe in an isolationist policy… The United States has been treated very, very unfairly by many countries over the years and that’s going to stop. But I’m not an isolationist.”
“I’m not an isolationist by any stretch of the imagination,” Trump later added. “I don’t know what newspaper you’re reading but I guess that would be another example of, as you say, fake news.”
